China to be fast-tracked
Beyond the Boundary can exclusively reveal that China are to be fast-tracked to full membership of the ICC, and will thus gain Test status.
Perhaps surprisingly, my ICC source revealed that the BCCI are behind the move, citing the revenue opportunities in China. Plans are already underway to play IPL pre-season games in the country, following […]

Chinese women make debut
China’s men’s team may be yet to make an appearance in international cricket, but the Chinese women’s team have. They played a sixes match against Scotland in Shanghai in September. They lost, 87 runs to 28, but it’s an important first step for the Chinese women.

MCC off to Hong Kong, China, Boatswana and Zambia
On September 25th, an MCC team will leave Lords for a 16-day tour of Hong Kong and China. While I doubt, they will actually play any major games in China, most of the effort will be put into organising training and coaching workshops, while they start their tour of Hong Kong with a game against […]

Speed to visit China
Cricinfo report that ICC chief executive Malcolm Speed is to visit China next week to assess the standard of play, coaching and facilities, as well as meeting the chairman of the Chinese Cricket Association.
I have to admit that I’m not as optimistic about China’s progress as some are. Myanmar were able to get a team […]
