Year in review: Part Ten
The latest year in review article see us cover Ghana to the Isle of Man, and we include a contribution from David Piesing, chairman of the Guernsey Cricket Board.

Greece relegated to Division Four
Greece have been relegated to Division Four of the European Championship as punishment for fielding ineligible players in this years Division Two tournament.
With the next Division Four tournament not taking place until 2009, Greece would not be able to compete in Division Two again until 2012. Not only has this ruled them out of qualification […]

Country in focus: Greece
Greece may not be the first name that springs to mind when considering countries with a promising cricketing future but tucked away in the Ionian Sea sits a beautiful island, home of The Hellenic Cricket Federation and a cricket mad population, who are determined to take this sport to a new level on the mainland.
Corfu […]

Rankings updated
I’ve updated the non-test rankings up to the end of the European Championships today. You can see them by clicking the link to the left hand side of the page. As one might expect, Norway are one of the biggest gainers in the rankings, climbing from 47th to 20th, although the biggest climb was further […]

European Championships come to a close
The final day of the European Championships was today. In Division One, Ireland already had the title secured, but Scotland still needed to beat Italy to secure second place. They did this in fine style with a 10 wicket demolition of the Italians. In the other Division One game, the Netherlands beat Denmark, with just […]

Greece finish last
Just to confirm what I suspected in my report yesterday, France progressed to the 5th place play off due to their superior run rate in the group stage. Greece have decided not to take the five hour journey to RAF Lossiemouth to play Israel under armed guard, and have hence forfeited the 7th place play […]

Ireland complete clean sweep of European Championships
With a result not forthcoming in today’s Ireland v Netherlands ODI at Ayr, the Irish have secured the European Championships, thus completing the set of all European outdoor titles at all age-groups this year. The game was abandoned after 19 overs of the Dutch innings, just one short of the required amount required for a […]

Shock at the European Championship!
All of us here have been impressed by the performance of Greece at this European Championship Second Division tournament. Well, it seems that performance was caused by picking players who shouldn’t be playing.
I checked out the points table this morning, and this message was at the bottom of the Group 1 table:
Hellas win points deducted […]

European Championship Day Four Report
A rain affected day, though all five games got a result. In the ODI at Ayr, Scotland got their first ODI win, against The Netherlands in a game reduced to 20 overs a side. Star performance of the day was from Ryan Watson who took 3/18 before a brutal 47 helped seal the win for […]

European Championship Day Three Report
Another day, some more surprises at the European Championships in Scotland. In Division One, Scotland, with Navedeep Poonia, John Blain and Dougie Brown in their ranks were expected to beat an Ireland side whom they’d beaten in the ICC Trophy, when they still had Ed Joyce in their ranks.
It wasn’t to be however, and the […]
