It’s been a bad day for the associates at the Under-19 World Cup in Malaysia with all four losing. Most surprising was Ireland’s ten wicket defeat by England, as that match was thought to be the best chance for an associate win.

Ireland beat PNG in warm-up
Ireland Under-19s have beaten Papua New Guinea Under-19s by 2 wickets in a warm-up match for the Under-19 World Cup. James Hall was the key player, scoring 70 and taking 2/21. Full report at CricketEurope here.
Malaysia Under-19s were the other associate side involved in warm-ups today, losing to Bangladesh by 165 runs.

PNG in Under-19 World Cup
Papua New Guinea have qualified for next year’s Under-19 World Cup in Malaysia after winning the regional EAP qualifiers in Vanuatu. They beat the hosts in the final, whilst Fiji beat Japan in the 3rd place play off.
