The second upset of the Friends Provident Trophy campaign took place today in Belfast as Ireland beat Warwickshire by 4 wickets. They restricted the Bears to 211/7 from their 50 overs, and skipper William Porterfield scored 69 to help lead them to the target in the 47th over.

Another round of county championship matches started today, and associate players are again involved.
Kyle Coetzer could only manage two for Durham against Yorkshire, and from a painstaking 41 deliveries. Their innings was dominated by 184 from Michael Di Venuto, who’s brother Peter played for Italy six years ago.

Poonia in the runs again
Scotland’s Navdeep Poonia has followed his maiden first-class century by hitting a 48 ball fifty for Warwickshire against Cambridge UCCE today. Fellow Scottish international Calum MacLeod is also playing for Warwickshire in this match, and he picked up his first first-class wicket when he trapped Thomas Hemingway LBW.

Poonia hits a century
Scotland’s Navdeep Poonia has become the fourth associate player to score a first-class century in the current English domestic season, scoring 111 for Warwickshire against Cambridge UCCE today. His previous best first-class score was 50.

Scots lose to Durham
Scotland have failed to continue their form after beating Lancashire on Monday and lost to Durham in Edinburgh today. Durham batted first and scored 181/9 from their 50 overs. A few batsmen got a start, but none went onto post a decent score.

Scotland upset Lancashire in close match
Scotland have beaten Lancashire by two runs in a close match at Old Trafford today, thanks to 3/26 from Dewald Nel. Ireland were also in Friends Provident Trophy action today, and they lost to Northamptonshire by 8 wickets. Paul Stirling scored 70, and Niall O’Brien scored 75, though that was for the opposition.
