County latest
Another round of county championship matches started today, and associate players are again involved.
Kyle Coetzer could only manage two for Durham against Yorkshire, and from a painstaking 41 deliveries. Their innings was dominated by 184 from Michael Di Venuto, who’s brother Peter played for Italy six years ago.
Denmark’s Freddie Klokker has taken over the wicket-keeper’s gloves for Derbyshire, but could only manage three in their first innings against Glamorgan. Glamorgan captain David Hemp was not out on 18 at the close of play.
Best associate performance of the day came from Irish wicket-keeper Niall O’Brien, who is unbeaten on 76 at close of play in Northamptonshire’s match against Leicestershire. In Warwickshire’s match against Cambridge UCCE, Scotland’s Calum MacLeod polished off the student’s tail end with 3/36.
