Irish and Scots lose
Ireland and Scotland have both lost their latest Friends Provident Trophy matches today. Scotland lost to Yorkshire by seven wickets, though John Blain put in a fantastic bowling performance against his former employers, taking 2/17 from his ten overs. Ireland lost to Leicestershire by 81 runs in Belfast despite another fine innings from William Porterfield, who scored 65.
Another Irishman in the runs today was Eoin Morgan, who scored 100 for Middlesex against Essex. He shared in a 179 run fourth wicket partnership with Ed Smith, who was one of two victims for Ryan ten Doeschate. Ten Doeschate didn’t get the chance to bat though as Jason Gallian’s unbeaten 111 led Essex to an eight wicket win.
The other two associate players in action today were David Hemp, who made 13 in Glamorgan’s four wicket loss to Hampshire, and Kyle Coetzer, who scored three in Durham’s six run win over Lancashire.

What’s happened to Majid Haq? I thought he was one of the top Scottish players and now he’s listed in the Scottish A squad. They could do worse than playing him just as a batsman.

I would think focusing on WCL 5 would be more important at this point..a preview of sorts..some profiles..some updates on the warm up matches..
