Rubbish, just plain rubbish
There’s an ICC run tournament for African affiliate nations going on in South Africa at the moment. But you wouldn’t know it looking at the ICC website.
There is nothing about it there. Nothing, nada, zip, f*ck all. I can go to the International Rugby Board website and get the result of a match between the Uruguay and Korea youth teams played in Chile yesterday (67-8 to Uruguay, if you’re interested), but can’t get results for ICC sanctioned internationals played on Monday on the ICC website. There is also no explanation forthcoming on why Morocco have been replaced by a South Africa Invitation XI.
Fortunately some of the results are available elsewhere, but that’s not my point. After doing a great job with the Americas Division Three and Division Two tournaments, with daily results, photos and press releases, their work on the African Division Three tournament bears all the hallmarks of someone who couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery.

Oh I’ve been sent those results Alistair, but they’re not exactly the best are they? No innings scores in some cases!

Andrew,
Most of the scores can be worked out from the tables that are attachments and even the D/L results can be worked out if you have their tables.
A couple of weeks ago i sent you a copy of a report from the tournament in Nicaragua but it wasnt published, did you get it?

The ICC may not be able to organise a piss up in a brewery but one thing is absolutely certain - their officials would be mighty good at enjoying one!

Peter - The ICC wouldn’t be drinking beer… they’d be drinking the finest Champagne! In fact, I’m surprised they’ve not gone on a fact finding mission to France yet.

Good on cricinfo - they’ve got full scorecards, etc, for the games so far:

Maybe the ICC should outsource its website to cricinfo (and pay cricinfo of course). Or better yet, outsource control of its website to BTB (wink!).

you can’t expect the BCCI(sorry ICC) to concentrate on anything other than the IPL at the moment surely, bless.

Chris,
I believe the ICC used to outsource their site to cricinfo, not sure why they changed, but it certainly hasn’t improved since then.
Meanwhile back at the cricket, I think Sierra Leone will be kicking themselves yet again, having screwed up against Swaziland when they looked lke they were cruising through the tournament…looks like the Ghanaians will sneak through on the blind side

Rich,
Many thanks for the aca website list, that only leaves EAP and Americas without one. I was going to be complimentary about the ICC for getting me on the results distribution list but thanks to that link to cricinfo i have found 4 games where they (ICC) have given the wrong result. The FICA are going to have a motion of no confidence in the ICC, perhaps we should also!

Interesting news item on the ACC website, btw, which says:
“The finalists of the ACC Trophy Elite qualify for the immediately succeeding Asia Cup where they take on Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in ODIs.”
Does this mean it’s not going to be UAE and Hong Kong (or at least not unless they come 1st and 2nd)?

Yes Rich, the finalists of the 2008 ACC Trophy will qualify for the 2010 Asia Cup, assuming it goes ahead, no matter who they are.

James - I’m not sure if those are still going ahead, as they’re not on the fixture list on the official Cricket South Africa website. Nick may be able to confirm if he’s reading this…

thats a pity that Kenya aren’t playing those ODI’s. Kenya really needs to start organizing some matches against full member countires. At the moment Ireland and Scotland are getting more matches against quality opposition then they are. Also, does this mean that Kenya won’t play against a full member country until the 2009 T20 World Cup (assuming they qualify)

Just a quick note on the Kenya v South Africa ODIs. On the latest ICC associate schedule (published on Wednesday), Kenya are provisionally scheduled for ODIs against South Africa on the 20th and 22nd of June.

Where would the ICC associate schedule be located (what website or a direct link would be greatly appreciated)

I found it on the ICC website - http://icc-cricket.yahoo.com/icc-events/cricket-world-cup.html
Second top menu, right hand item. It contains a few things that we know were wrong at the date they published it though, so I’d take it with a pinch of salt.

thanks for that, when its says India (to Zimbabwe) in Kenya, what does that mean? I knew that India were suppose to tour Zimbabwe before they cancelled it, but I didn’t know that Kenya was involved. I hope that possible tri series between zimbabwe, kenya and ireland goes ahead. Supposedly Bangladesh were going to be invloved. I hope they still are.

That ICC associates schedule must change every few days because it now says that its updated on the 11th May. And now unfortunately it doesnt mention the ODI’s between Kenya and South Africa
