Scots lose to Durham
Scotland have failed to continue their form after beating Lancashire on Monday and lost to Durham in Edinburgh today. Durham batted first and scored 181/9 from their 50 overs. A few batsmen got a start, but none went onto post a decent score.
John Blain bowled well to take 3/31 from his ten overs, whilst Scotland international (on the rare occasions he’s released) Kyle Coetzer could only manage seven for the Dynamos. Scotland were 52/5 in their 18th over when rain brought an end to the match, Durham winning by 46 runs on the Duckworth/Lewis method.
Four other associate players were in county action aside from Coetzer in today’s Friends Provident Trophy matches. Kenyan Rageb Aga, now playing for Sussex on a British passport, scored four and conceded 31 runs from his four overs opening the bowling against Kent.
After Mark Pettini and Jason Gallian put on 269 for the Essex first wicket against Surrey, Dutchman Ryan ten Doeschate came in and clubbed 60 from just 31 balls. He later took 1/19 from two overs, his wicket being that of Surrey captain Mark Butcher.
Meanwhile, Niall O’Brien’s run of scores for Northamptonshire came to an end as he only scored seven in their match against Warwickshire.
